  • Educate community members about issues surrounding and leading up to sex trafficking
  • Mobilize College Students to respond to the problem of sexual exploitation and trafficking in the community.

Community Education and Awareness

Studies show that 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. It is the responsibility of adults to protect children from sexual abuse. To protect children, it is important to learn what sexual abuse means, how to minimize the opportunities, discuss the subject, recognize the signs, and react responsibly. By utilizing Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children’s Prevention Training families, youth programs, schools, clinics, recreation facilities, and other organizations that serve children and youth can learn and apply safety methods to reduce risk and protect children.

The Educator has several trained facilitators of the Stewards of Children Prevention Training. Trainings can be offered in English, French, and American Sign Language. Trainings include stories from survivors, facts, group discussion, resources, and materials.
